YES or NO

yes

Words

are

power.

words and power

I know this, and so…when I have opportunity, I always choose YES.

The reason?

Simple.

I want to say that beautiful open creative imaginative word.

I want to grant permission. Give forgiveness. If the power to choose is mine, I choose peace.

When we say NO, we stop action.

We stop activity, possibility, opportunity.

We end abruptly. There must be powerful reason to say NO.

But I CHOOSE….YES

For YES is a symphony only just beginning to play once the sound of the word escapes our lips.

YES is harmony and life-altering, world-view changing realization.

YES is the door to all we can imagine, expect, dream.

YES is exactly what I give way to, allow, embrace and inhabit.

YES.

YES.

I will always choose

yes

This is a great reminder of all we can gain by saying YES! YES really is a beginning. The end of you piece had me ready to shout YES, YES, YES. Sometimes it easier to say no, but your post reminds me of the power of YES.

  3. Your words are resonating with me today… I try to say YES to students as much as possible, but it can be tough. I am working on better reformulating my No’s and choosing when to say YES instead!

I find it fun to figure out how I can say yes even when I have to say no. For example, when a student asks for something I cannot give I ask myself what I CAN give and say yes instead to that. “Can we please have recess all day?” “Yes! In Saturday! Back to class!”

Now I’m going to have to think about how I can turn every no into yes. Love the example of recess! Just saying yes puts a smile on a face and the face of the one hearing yes.
